Thanksgiving Dinner

During the Thanksgiving dinner, I asked my children to list the things that they were thankful for. The boy was thankful for living in the first World country, having a nice home, his own computer and good food. The girl was thankful for having best friends and becoming a vegan. I listened patiently as the list went on and on…I loved my little family for the harmony and balance that brought to my life. I thanked myself for raising the children of good character and honest intentions. As I was washing the dishes after our modest dinner, I paused for a moment. I felt that I needed to tell them something that my parents told me when I was growing up.
I told my children that having more makes them responsible to give more to those who are less fortunate. I told them to be thankful for all that they can give and never stop giving. I told them that it was important to be happy, but it was also important to stay dissatisfied and always reach for more and better. Living a life is great; leaving something behind that is worth mentioning it’s harder and greater. As I kept talking, their faces looked at me with gratitude and love. I heard my son saying: “I know, mom, the sky should not be my limit”.
