His little fingers were clasping together. He was kicking his feet. Then the doctor forced the scissors into the base of the skull and inserted the catheter. The arms jerked out in a flinch, a startle reaction the baby does when he thinks he might fall. The doctor opened the scissors up and stuck the high-power suction tube into the hole to suck the brain out. Now the fetus was completely limp.
Forced late abortions are considered an acceptable way of enforcing China’s population limits. Desperate times call for desperate measures, yet something is entirely wrong. Each year, millions of mothers in China are forced to undergo abortions or sterilizations under the One-Child Policy. Life is precious. It should, at least, become an option.
